Third Mainland Bridge to close for 24 Hours – FG

The federal government on Tuesday announced a 24-hour closedown of the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos state from noon on Wednesday to noon on Thursday. It was made known in a statement that the closure would allow a scheduled contractor to carry out significant rehabilitation exercises on the bridge.

The statement signed by Olukorede Kesha, the federal controller of works in Lagos, says that, because of the critical nature of the work to be done, the bridge would not be opened to traffic for 24 hours. “Thus, all road users are advised to use alternative routes during this period,” the controller said. Motorists are also advised to cooperate with the road traffic management officials deployed to manage traffic; ensure seamless movements and minimize inconvenience during this period. The controller commended the public, especially motorists, for their cooperation and understanding. She closed her statement by saying all the inconveniences caused by the current number of disruptions are regrettable.
